The return to practice of LB Roquan Smith is excellent news for the Chicago Bears. With him, we were quite delighted, head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters. He is preparing to resume his activities. Now that he’s doing well there, we’re simply getting him ready to play football.
The bad news? As he is ready to play the final year of his rookie deal, he and the organization are still at odds over a new contract. Smith stated, “There aren’t any other offers at this moment, and I don’t believe there will be any throughout the season. I’m currently focusing on the season since that is where my attention has changed. Why not make it special since the past four years have been incredible? My goal for this season is to play to my best potential.” The discussions between Smith and his team were, as is well known, exceedingly challenging.
