Unretiring former New England Patriots is hardly a brand-new idea. A different former Super Bowl MVP could be returning to the NFL. The Super Bowl LIII MVP and seasoned Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has hinted that he would make a comeback.
According to the New York Post, Edelman replied, “I don’t know, we’ll see,” during a speech at the Sunset Sports Media Festival in Croatia. Tom Brady, who is nearing his third season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was asked if 36-year-old wide receiver Julian Edelman will rejoin him on the field. He said that a return would likely be to his most comfortable circumstances.
“That is known as a brief teaser,”said Edelman. “We maintain our fitness, but you never know. However, I would probably return to the Patriots. I’m a huge Patriots fan. Foxborough always.” Players like Gronkowski and Brady are well-known retirees and returning superstars, so Edelman’s return shouldn’t be all that shocking.
