General manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur’s contract extensions were not discussed in depth by Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy, who would only tell the reporters on Monday that he was “sure” they will remain with the team for a number of years. Their contracts had been renewed, so it appears that this was more than just a wish.
According to Monday’s news reports, the Packers have extended the contracts of LaFleur, Gutekunst, and executive vice president Russ Ball. The extensions, according to Pelissero, were approved months ago. LaFleur has had an incredible first season as the Packers’ head coach in terms of wins and losses.
LaFleur, 42, enters his fourth season with a 39-10 record and three NFC North championships in as many seasons. He led the Pack to NFC Championship Game appearances in each of his first two seasons in charge, but Green Bay was shocked at home by the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round last year.
