Gesicki has returned to his natural position after playing receiver for most of his first three seasons as a tight end under Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. That has needed more work and more time to adjust to a new role. Gesicki played in Miami’s Week 2 preseason game longer than the other starters because it hasn’t been as simple as one may anticipate.
After the tight end’s prolonged involvement against Las Vegas, rumors of Gesicki’s name being mentioned in trade negotiations started to circulate. In response to these rumblings, McDaniel provided a detailed justification on Thursday. He basically asserted that the claims are false, and he concentrated on instructing Mike while Mike concentrated on improving. McDaniel seems unconcerned with trade rumors, so that’s good. He is concentrating on developing the players on his squad, and he approves of Gesicki’s play.
