After two injury-plagued seasons in Cincinnati, Trae Waynes has experienced the football dream and is prepared to put a stop to it in order to move on to the next phase of his life. Waynes has basically retired from professional football, while not doing so formally (at least not yet). After seven NFL seasons, the cornerback and former first-round choice recently admitted to the Geary & Stein Sports Show podcast that he is not interested in continuing his football career.
“To be very honest with you”, Waynes added, “It’s open, but I’m not really investigating anything. In fact, several clubs have phoned. Sincerely, I’m done in my mind. Just because I don’t care, I’m not doing it formally (expletive). However, I haven’t really made an announcement about my retirement.” Waynes’ state of health is the primary driver behind this choice. The athlete is concerned that his body can’t take any more injuries after sustaining too many already.
