Adrien Broner (32-2, 24 KO’s)

This fight against Grandados will be the first one for Broner since April of last year when he defeated Ashley Theophane by 9th round TKO. “I’m back at home and excited to get back in the ring,” said Broner “I’m ready to fight. The boxing game isn’t the same without me. Granados is a solid guy who beat someone (Amir Imam) that no one thought he would beat. I know him well and I know there’s no doubt he’ll be ready to fight.”

2016 was not a good year for Broner who served 30 days in jail in July and in October he posted suicide threats on Instagram.  Broner said that is all behind him and that he is ready to roll. “I know that I have what it takes to take over boxing,” Broner said, “To do that I need to focus 100 percent on boxing and crafting my skills. That’s my mind-set and that’s what I’m focused on.” Broner has fought 14 times previously in his hometown of Cincinnati and beaten some good fighters including Paulie Malignaggi, Daniel Ponce De Leon, Ashley Theophane and John Molina Jr. Broner said fighting at home will not be a distraction. “I’ve fought at home a lot and to come back with another fight like this is an awesome feeling,” Broner said. “I know it’s going to be a great night. It’s going to be a great night for Cincinnati and for my career. I won’t have any distractions fighting at home. I know how to block everything out and stay focused on what’s in front of me.”

Adrian Granados (18-4-2, 12 KO’s)

Grandados is coming off a big win against Imam in November of 2015 and a win against Ariel Vasquez last July. “I’m fully prepared to go to war with Adrien Broner on February 18 in Cincinnati,” said Granados, “We’re going to wait and see round by round. I don’t like going to the judges’ scorecard and fighting in his hometown, I’m going to try to get a knockout. I have to do anything in my power to keep the fight out of the judges’ hands.”

Granados has won his last five fights and his four losses are either by split or majority decision with those opponents having a combined record of 52-1.

Fight Notes

These two fighters have previously trained as sparring partners so they know each other well.  “We’ve brought Granados into camp for sparring before but I’m a much different fighter now,” Broner said. “I know he is too and I think it’s going to make an exciting, explosive fight. Granados is no pushover. He’s not an opponent that anybody can just pick up a win. I knew Adrian Granados will bring the best out of Adrien Broner.”
