Ottawa Senators at Dallas Stars Odds

The Stars (-225) are being tabbed as the favorites over the Senators (+185) and the oddsmakers have set the Over/Under (O/U) at 6 goals (-105 over, -115 under).

Losing 6.8 units for moneyline bettors, Dallas is 2-8 straight up (SU) overall this year. That early-season winning percentage is a noticeable slide from what the team recorded during the 2018-19 season (43-39). Seven of the team’s 10 games have gone under the total, while three have gone over and none have pushed. This season, the team is 0-3 SU at home.

The Stars have converted on just 7.4 percent of their power play opportunities this year, a figure that’s ranked 28th overall in the NHL. On the other hand, their penalty kill is ranked sixth overall, and they’ve successfully killed off 86.5 percent of all penalties.

With a .913 save percentage and 27.0 saves per game, Ben Bishop (2-5-1) has been the primary option in goal for the Stars this season. If Dallas chooses to give him a breather, however, the team may roll with the winless Anton Khudobin (0-3-3 record, .888 save percentage, 3.42 goals against average).

Ottawa has lost 3.9 units for bettors taking the moneyline thus far and is currently 1-6 straight up (SU). Through seven regular season matches, four of its games have gone under the total, while three have gone over and none have pushed. As the road team so far, the Senators are 0-3 SU.

The Sens have recorded a goal on 4.3 percent of their power play chances this year after converting on 20.4 percent of their extra-man opportunities last season (a mark that was just better than the league average). The team has gone from successfully defending 79.2 percent of opponents’ power plays (ranked 23rd overall last season) to 80.0 percent this year.

Craig Anderson (.895 save percentage and 3.26 goals against average) has been the main option in goal for Ottawa. Anderson is averaging 27.4 saves per game and owns a 1-4 record.
