Top Contenders
Rory McIlroy 9-2
It has been a while since Rory has event played this event as it was back in 2010 when he finished tied for 4th. McIlroy has had plenty of time to get ready for this event as he missed the cut at the U.S. Open.
Martin Kaymer 14-1
If you play golfers based on how well they like a course then you have to take Kaymer this week. He has nine starts at Le Golf National and has a win and three finishes in the top seven.
Danny Willett 18-1
It is hard to know what you are going to get with Willett who won the Masters but tied for 37th at the U.S. Open. He did play better last week in Germany but he will have to putt better if he expects to win in France.
Francesco Molinari 18-1
Another golfer that likes playing at Le Golf National is Molinari who has finished second twice in this event. He also finished in sixth place last year in this tournament.
Others to Consider
You have to give Graeme McDowell a serious look as it has been all or nothing with him at Le Golf National recently. He won in 2013 and 2014 and then missed the cut last year. He has missed the cut five times in his last ten in this event but in the other five he had two wins and three other Top 20 finishes. The defending champion is Bernd Weisberger who played well last week in Germany finishing in a tie for 7th. If you are looking for a local contender then how about Gregory Bourdy who has four straight top 20 finishes.
I will take McIlroy as my top choice and go with two longshots in Molinari and Bourdy.
