After the New York Jets’ disheartening defeat to New England in Week 8, it was once again thought that Gang Green’s impressive start to the season was more of a mirage. The majority of people predicted that the Jets would lose to the AFC East’s elite going into Week 9’s matchup with Buffalo. Instead, Josh Allen was confused by the Fightin’ Salehs, Zach Wilson avoided the agonizing interceptions, and the offense produced plays late to earn a 20-17 victory.
According to tight end Tyler Conklin, “nobody outside of this locker room thought we had a shot, but it’s been the same narrative for us all season. Everyone seems to believe that the Jets will remain the same. Guess what? We’re not your typical Jets.”
The Jets might have given up on a good Buffalo club when they went down 14-3 on Allen’s second touchdown run midway through the second quarter. Early in the third quarter, it appeared as though the Same Old Jets may finally be revealed until a Wilson interception ended a lengthy drive that had reached the end zone.
