I never requested to be left off the squad, Akers claimed. “I never requested not to participate. Never did I beg to skip a practice.” Akers told the media that he was glad to be back, but it is still unclear whether he will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, even though things are moving in that way.
Akers’ final practice with the Rams previously occurred on a Wednesday during Week 6. He skipped the following two classes and the following week’s victory over the Carolina Panthers as a result. Akers missed the first of two games, with a bye week in between them.
