The Eagles placed defensive lineman Jordan Davis on injured reserve just hours after Nick Sirianni told the media that they didn’t necessarily need to. Davis was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday as a result of an ankle injury sustained in Week 8.
During Sunday’s game, when the New York Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 35-13, Davis was hurt in the last seconds of the first half. Davis required a cart to transport him into the locker room for additional evaluation after being assisted off the field and into the medical tent.
Davis was ruled out of the game earlier on Wednesday due to the short turnaround between the game against Houston on Thursday night and the game on Sunday. Since he was placed on injured reserve, he must at least sit out the upcoming month before he can be designated for return from IR. Philadelphia’s front line depth is impacted by the loss of the rookie, but the Eagles have enough active players to make up for Davis’ absence.
