Dallas no longer has to wait. On Wednesday, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott received a medical clearance to play, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Prescott was also acknowledged as taking part fully in drills.
During the Cowboys’ Week 1 defeat to the Buccaneers, Prescott broke his thumb, necessitating surgery and, at most, a four- to six-week rehabilitation period. As expected, Prescott will be eligible to participate in Week 7’s game against the Lions thanks to Wednesday’s news.
Prescott’s ability to grip the football has been the major topic of conversation for weeks as to when his injury will be healed enough for him to play. Prescott had been performing mild exercises with the rehab team for a week, so it was beginning to appear more and more like this might be the week for his return. Additionally, Prescott himself confirmed it on Sunday following the Cowboys’ defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, indicating he intended to play against the Lions if practice went according to plan.
