Mike Tomlin, the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has not publicly commented on his starting quarterback issue. Kenny Pickett, a rookie, isn’t saying if he or Mitchell Trubisky will be the quarterback against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 and isn’t very concerned about it just yet.
According to Pickett, who spoke this week on the team’s official website, “I am simply focused on improving. I’m still learning a lot, and my game plan for Cincinnati is now coming together. I am therefore learning a lot, accepting it all, and relishing it.”
The general consensus is that Trubisky will begin the season as the starter. The seasoned player joined this summer as the starter and hasn’t done anything to jeopardize his position. Even though his offensive line was collapsing every snap in the preseason finale versus Detroit, he played wonderfully. Throughout the preseason, Pickett was highly productive.
