Ted Phillips said on Friday that he would step down as Chicago Bears club president and CEO at the end of the 2022 season after nearly 40 years with the organization, including 23 in his present positions.
“I consider it a great pleasure to have served the Chicago Bears for 40 seasons, and I look forward to continuing to serve as team president through the 2022 campaign. I appreciate the McCaskey family’s support, and getting to be a part of the Chicago Bears’ incredible development over the years has been a dream come true”, according to a press statement from Phillips.
The club is presently conducting a search for Phillips’ replacement, and a hiring announcement is anticipated in the upcoming months. Prior to joining the Bears, Phillips worked as a tax accountant and auditor. He was recruited as the team’s controller in 1983, promoted to vice president of operations in 1993, and has been Chicago’s CEO and president since 1999. He was the fourth president to hold the office.
