The dismal tenure of Denzel Mims in New York may be coming to an end after the receiver on Thursday formally sought a trade. The request was made to the Jets by the agent of the Baylor product, Ron Slavin, who claimed that the team was denying his client a real chance to become a part of the offense in New York.
“Just give it time. Denzel did his best, but it’s obvious he won’t be joining the Jets in the future”, Slavin said in a statement on Thursday. “Denzel pledged to return this season stronger than ever, and he labored arduously over the winter to fulfill that promise. However, he hasn’t been given any chances to settle in with the starting offense.”
Since the Jets have consistently said that they would not release him, we believe a trade to be our only remaining alternative at this time. Joe Douglas has always treated Denzel fairly, and we have faith that he will do all in his ability to find Denzel a position in a club where he can contribute. In 20 games over two seasons, Denzel has caught 31 receptions for 490 yards.
