Eddie Goldman was added to the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive line on Wednesday, strengthening it with a seasoned acquisition. Safety Punter Dom Maggio and kicker Brad Hawkins were both let go at the same time.
After seven years with the team, Goldman, 28, was released by the Chicago Bears prior to free agency. The defensive lineman played in 81 games for Chicago, starting 73 of them, and finished his career with 175 total tackles and 13 sacks. Goldman committed to a four-year agreement with the Bears in 2018, however he was released after the first year of the deal.
He is the most recent ex-Chicago player Atlanta has signed this offseason, and it is the first with current Falcons Senior Personnel Executive and former Bears General Manager Ryan Pace on staff. Additionally, there are linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski, running back Damien Williams, receiver Damiere Byrd, offensive lineman Germain Ifedi and Elijah Wilkinson, and receiver Damiere Byrd. In the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Pace picked Goldman for the Bears. Along with numerous other players, including Grady Jarrett, Anthony Rush, and Vincent Taylor, Eddie Goldman will join the Falcons’ front line.
