The Charlotte Hornets (13-18) will be 6-point underdogs at home in the Spectrum Center when they meet the Utah Jazz (17-11). The game’s Over/Under (O/U) opened at 210 points and it starts at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Utah Jazz at Charlotte Hornets Betting Odds

In the Hornets’ previous game, they were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, 100-98, but they did cover as 2.5-point underdogs. The Jazz, meanwhile, beat the Atlanta Hawks, 111-106, but were not able to cover as 6.5-point favorites. The Charlotte game finished 14 points under the projected point total of 212, while the Utah game finished 9 points under the projected point total of 226.

Utah dominated nearly every facet of the game. They had a solid offensive rebounding percentage of 27.7 (above their season average of 19.3) and a free throw rate of 0.325 (above their season average of 0.219). For those same stats, Atlanta was 13.0 and 0.189, respectively. Charlotte, meanwhile, had a turnover percentage of 8.3 (better than their season average of 13.4). Terry Rozier fueled Charlotte with 35 points. Rudy Gobert had a good game for Utah, contributing 20 points and 13 rebounds.

The Jazz dominated this series last year, emerging victorious in both contests. In the most recent game, Utah won 111-102. Utah launched 35 three pointers, making 15 of them (42.9 percent), while Charlotte was 7-30 (23.3 percent). This is the first time these teams will go head-to-head this year.

Of the Jazz’s 28 games, 15 have finished under the projected point total. Utah has a respectable 17-11 straight up (SU) record, but they have trouble covering the spread (10-17-1 against the spread (ATS)).

Much like Utah, Hornets games have a slight tendency to go under the total (51.6 percent). Further, Charlotte owns records of 13-18 SU and 17-14 ATS.

The Jazz’s Gobert has been playing well over his last five games, averaging 17 points,15.6 rebounds,3.2 assists per game. Meanwhile, Cody Zeller has averaged 14 points,9.4 rebounds during that same time frame for the Hornets.

Expect this one to be a clinic on boxing out as two of the league’s top rebounding teams go head-to-head. The Hornets currently rank third in offensive rebounding percentage (24.3 percent), while Utah ranks third in defensive rebounding percentage (80.5 percent).
